Organic Basil Seed from Seed It Up
I am a firm believer that fresh basil should be added to pretty much everything. I love the smell, I love the taste, I love everything about it.

So the idea of growing my own organic basil when I was given this little pack of basil seed goodness gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside.

I imagine a lot of people reading this feel the same as me when it comes to growing and, more importantly, picking your own fresh grown vegetables and herbs. It is sustainable living at its best.

And that is pretty much the concept of Seed It Up.

Seed It Up – Seeding a Sustainable Future

Seed It Up is the brainchild of Michelle Darlington, famous for being on Masterchef in 2009, but well-known around the food scene for her passion for growing her own food and sustainable living.

That passion is evident as soon as you meet Michelle. She exudes a love of not only fresh, organic ingredients and growing your own produce but also the idea of spreading joy and healthy living among others too.

And so what you have with Seed it Up is not just a packet of organic seeds. It's also a mantra for sustainable living, with a "pay it forward" notion of spreading kindness and "seeding our soul".

Every seed pack includes a Random Act of Kindness card. The idea is that you pass the card on to someone else to make their day a little bit brighter, in the act also passing on the sustainable living message.

My random act of kindness card included this message by the Dalai Lama, which I was more than happy to take on, and pass on! "Approach love and food with reckless abandon".

As well as inspiring people, Seed It Up is a great avenue for buying organic seeds as well learning how to grow your own veggies. On the Seed It Up website you can find instructions on how to plant your seeds (whether you live in a small apartment or have a big garden) and recipes to use your herbs and veggies when they're all grown up.

What's the Cost?

Each seed pack contains about 50 seeds and is available to buy online at the Seed It Up site for $5.50 each.

Other seed packs available to buy online include beetroot, broccoli, capsicum, chilli, coriander, cucumber, lettuce, micro greens, mizuna, tatsoi, tomato and zucchini.

You also get a free pack of seeds if you buy a pendant or bracelet etched with inspirational sayings from Seed It Up's range of jewellery, or one of their eco journals.
